ST PETER'S Church in Burnley is marking the arrival of two new bells by attempting a peal that will take around three hours to ring.
The Blackburn branch of the Lancashire Association of Change Ringers will be at the church to make 5,040 special rings - known as Grandshire Triples - of the bells on Saturday, October 18, at 12.30pm.
The following day a service of dedication for the two new bells will be held. The existing eight bells will be rung before the service and then all 10, including the two new ones, will be rung by local bell ringers at the end of the ceremony.
To coincide with the occasion the church, in Church Street, Burnley, will also be holding a flower festival over the weekend.
Admission to the festival will cost £2 for adults, but will be free for children and light refreshments will be available. For more details telephone 01282 432775.
