INVESTIGATIONS into the cause of a blaze at a Pendle recycling plant are continuing today.
The fire happened at the two-storey Norpol Recycling plant, Charles Street, Nelson, at 10.30pm on Saturday night.
Four engines including two from Nelson, two from Colne and the Incident Support Unit from Accrington attended the fire.
Sub-officer Dave Robinson said: "The factory was heavily smoke logged. There was thick, black smoke coming from the building which made it difficult for us to locate the fire.
"We had to break into the building and use the thermal imagining camera to search the premises. The ventilation unit was used to clear the smoke.
"The owner was extremely thankful to us and the member of public whose quick intervention prevented the whole factory from being destroyed."
