PENDLE people are being invited to share stories about their backgrounds as part of One World Week.
Pendle Council is looking to find out how and why people or their ancestors migrated to the Pendle area, whether from a short distance away or from the other side of the world.
Officers hope to use snippets of individual or family stories to form part of a display of people's backgrounds to mark One World Week from October 19 to 26.
The council has teamed up with the Building Bridges Interfaith Community Project, based in Nelson, in an attempt to ensure that the project will unite people from the borough's communities.
The display will show off the origins of people who have lived in Pendle for any length of time, from six months to 60 years.
Communications officer Sarah Lee said: "We want to hear about where you or your family came from and why and how you came to live in Pendle, whether your family has moved 10 miles or 10,000 miles.
Coun Antony Beckett, executive member for the community, said: "One World Week is an important celebration of cultural diversity, bringing people from all kinds of heritage together."
Stories should be told in fewer than 100 words and must be sent by October 15, with names, addresses and phone numbers included. Post entries to Sarah Lee, Communications Team, Town Hall, Market Street, Nelson, Lancashire BB9 7LG.
