VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help at Pendle's Bancroft Mill during their popular 'steaming days'.

The events, held every Saturday throughout spring and summer, allow people to see how the the steam engine was used to run 1,250 Lancashire looms and generators from 1920 to 1978.

The Barnoldswick museum is open every Saturday for viewings, with the last steaming held on October 26.

Volunteers, particularly younger people are being urged to come forward and offer a small amount of their time each week to help out around the museum.

Secretary Jim Gill, said: "It's an ongoing task to maintain the mill as a working museum -- to upgrade, exhibit and display new items of interest. There are many jobs to be done, with only a few dedicated members to do them. We need helpers for things like painting, cleaning, helping run the engine and many other odd jobs."

If anybody would like to become a volunteer they should contact Jim on 01282 865626.
