A MICROFILM reader will be installed in Darwen Library in memory of Darwen headteacher Howard Peters, who died in July 2002.
Mr Peters, 89, died in a Southampton nursing home after a two-year illness. He had moved south in 2000 to be near his stepdaughter Nancy Gibson.
He was a magistrate, a president of Darwen Rotary Club and former headteacher of Darwen Technical College.
He was also involved in several organisations including Darwen Civic Society, the Parkinson's Disease Society and the 10th Darwen Scouts.
More than 300 people attended a memorial service for him last October and a memorial fund was set up in his name.
Money raised has paid for a microfilm reader.
The Rev Geoff Tolley said: "This was thought most appropriate because of Howard's involvement in local history and can be used to scan documents on microfilm." An official handing over of the equipment will take place in a few weeks. A date has yet to be set.
