A BATTLE of the Bands will take place in Blackburn on Thursday to raise money for seven-year-old Robyn Brooks who is battling cancer.
Robyn, who lives in Rochdale, suffers from neuroblastoma, a rare kind of cancer found in children and which can only be treated by new and radical methods in the United States.
She is currently receiving a revolutionary new treatment at the Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, where she has responded well.
But she suffered a relapse a few weeks ago and is now undergoing additional treatment to eradicate three small areas of tumour.
The Robyn Brooks Fund was set up to raise the money needed to pay for the treatment but is now desperate for new funding to pay for the extra treatment.
Bacup man Andy Crossley, a member of the appeal fund, said: "Robyn's scans were coming back clear and she was winning until two or three weeks ago when they found three small tumours in her cheek and knee.
"She needs support now more anything. No matter what she's been through she's constantly smiling. But as the moment, as the money comes in it goes back out again to pay bills."
The Battle of the Bands will take place in the Cellar Bar, in King Street, Blackburn, between 6pm and 1am, and will feature the bands SWF, Missed Her Bliss, Alehouse, Grand Crew and The ID, as well as DJ BIg Ste.
Admission will be a £2 donation to the fund on the door.
Anyone wanting to donate to the appeal fund should write to Robyn's Fund, PO Box 266, Rochdale, OL12 OXB.
