A DRUNKEN man urged police to lock him up and seemed intent on being arrested for something, a court was told.
Burnley Magistrates heard how John Simpson, 21, threatened to smash every window on the street where he lived and said he just wanted to go to jail and warned he would go on the motorway to take his life.
The defendant, who had been shouting and swearing, got his wish and was arrested after police could nott calm him down.
Simpson, of Westbourne Avenue, Burnley, admitted being drunk and disorderly. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £55 costs.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said police called to Westbourne Avenue. The defendant had been sitting in the garden with his mother.
Philip Turner, defending, said Simpson did not threaten anybody with violence and was obviously upset when police arrived.
