EMERGENCY services were called to help rescue a man trapped between his wagon and a wall earlier today.
Police, paramedics, fire crews and the Incident Support Unit from Accrington attended the accident which happened in Rigg Street, Nelson, just after 5am.
Police said David Middleton, 44, of Pine Street, Nelson, got out of the 7.5 ton Leyland Daf wagon to check the road was clear for him to reverse when it started to roll down the hill.
Sergeant Russell Greggory, said: "The driver decided to get out to check that it was safe for him to reverse. The wagon started rolling backwards and as he attempted to get back in to bring it under control it trapped him between a wall and some railings."
Leading Firefighter Peter Basford added: "When we arrived at the scene the paramedics had already managed to free the man so we assisted them after it appeared he had suffered a dislocated shoulder."
Mr Middleton was taken to Burnley General Hospital to be treated for arm injuries and bruising.
