BURNLEY Football Club have unveiled Lancashire lad Dave Edmundson as their new Chief Executive.

Great Harwood-born Edmundson steps into the shoes of Andrew Watson, who quit last summer to take over a similar role with hometown team Huddersfield.

Former teacher, freelance broadcaster and journalist Edmundson, 52, who also acted as an agent to many top sportsmen, was the unanimous choice of chairman Barry Kilby and the Burnley board to fill the hot seat.

And Edmundson today vowed to put "110 per cent" into the high-profile role, which he starts with immediate effect.

Edmundson said: "This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for me. Jobs like this one do not come along too often and I feel I am ready for such a prestigious role, at a club with a fabulous tradition, having been involved in professional sport for many years.

"Burnley has a terrific fan base and I can assure everyone I aim to put 110 per cent commitment into this job to help the club achieve its aim of bringing Premiership football to Turf Moor."

Meanwhile, back on the pitch, Burnley's First Division clash with Cardiff City early next month is now a 3pm kick-off.

Burnley Reserves return to action tonight at Tranmere (7pm).
