ANTHONY Haworth (Letters, October 2) makes ridiculous and inaccurate comments about Blackburn with Darwen Council and proposed local government reorganisation.
If Ribble Valley Council is so good, how come Blackburn with Darwen Council won the council of the year award and not Ribble Valley?
Obviously Mr Haworth must be a big fan of Lancashire County Council, which runs the majority of services in Ribble Valley. Both Ribble Valley Council (re cleansing issues) and Lancashire County Council (re the care homes issue) have also recently been criticised by many people in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
In truth, of course, thousands of people from the Ribble Valley come to Blackburn and Darwen every day to work, to use leisure facilities such as King George's Hall, the library and Waves, and hundreds of young people come into Blackburn from Ribble Valley at the weekend for the nightlife.
After having used these facilities provided by Blackburn with Darwen Council, most then return home to their nice house in the country!
Maybe Mr Haworth could list the many facilities provided by Ribble Valley Council in Sabden.
MR P McCANN, Hastings Close, Blackburn.
