LEIGH Centurions could have another crack at reaching Super League next season with a full-time squad.
The beaten Grand Finalists are trying to put together a financial package that would keep around 15 players on full-time contracts. The remaining squad members would stay on a part-time basis.
They are hoping to follow suit with relegated Halifax, who will run with 15 full-timers, and Hull KR, who are adopting a similar idea.
Director of Rugby, Alex Murphy, feels that's the way forward for Leigh. "We've to maximise what we've got. We can't afford to let clubs like Halifax and Hull KR get a jump on us.
"Let's face it, we can't afford to fail again. Our fans have been tremendous all season and they've been kicked in the teeth again. We've got to give them reason for optimism."
Leigh will also soon begin to draw up their squad for next season. Murphy is hoping to set up a meeting with skipper Adam Bristow to try and persuade the popular Aussie to stay on for a fourth year instead of returning to his native Australia.
A decision is also still to be made on whether to appoint a head coach for next season.
"A number of people have expressed an interest should that role become available. But I don't know which road we'll be going down," Murphy adds.
