SPEEDING motorists are putting lives at risk after a catalogue of crashes, claim residents of Ringley Road West in Radcliffe.
In the past two years, vehicles have smashed into garden walls five times and householders claim it is only a matter of time before there is a fatality.
"It's extremely dangerous," said Mrs Joan Sharpley (74). "You can be sitting watching television and as soon as you hear a bang you know that another wall has been demolished.
"The last time it happened was in June. They lose control, mount the pavement and hit the walls. It happens at all times of the day and night."
Residents blame drivers who come "tearing" around the bend and are calling on Bury Council to introduce 'reduce speed' signs or cameras.
Councillor Tony Cummings, who has taken up the matter, said: "There is a problem and a lot of damage has been caused. I have spoken to the traffic department and they are going to renew and replace the traffic signs warning drivers of the bend as well as putting anti-skid patches on the road. Hopefully this will help solve the problem."
