RADCLIFFE Swimming Club had four members selected to represent Great Britain in the recent World Biathle Championships in Monaco.
And they didn't disappoint...
Three members of the same family: Mark, Laura and Scott Evans joined Thomas Gibson last month for the continuous event which involves a run, a swim and a second run.
Athletes from five continents and 23 countries turned out for what promised to be a gruelling event.
Tom Gibson was first to compete in the Youths E race for ten-year-olds. Tom, in his first championships, was up against some tough competition and maintained a position of fifth throughout the race to be the first Briton home.
Scott Evans then took to the run in the Youths D race for 11-12-year-olds and finished in fifth place just five seconds out of the medals after a strong final run.
Laura Evans competed in the Youths C race for 13-14 year-olds and battled hard to finish in ninth place before discovering she had chipped a bone in her thumb when she was forced against one of the barriers during the race.
The final Radcliffe swimmer was Scott and Laura's dad Mark, who was competing in the Master Class for 40-50 year-olds.
Competing in his third World Championships, Mark was short of fitness following a recent footballing injury but battled hard to equal his position of third last year.
Overall, the British team headed the medal table with a total of 23 medals although the South African team ended with more gold.
