THE FUTURE of an Accrington nightclub re-opened by a group of pals is still hanging in the balance after it was forced to close when one partner pulled out.

The remaining partners say they will know in the next two weeks whether they will be able to carry on.

Club Eclectic opened in the former Lar de Dars and Eclipse club, in Willow Street, Accrington, in August.

The five friends - Rob, Cath and Gaelle Graham, Adam McEvoy and Kristin Dewell invested £50,000 through their Party On Lancs company.

But the venture was plunged into uncertainty earlier this month when Miss Dewell pulled out unexpectedly.

The 21-year-old held the liquor and public entertainment licences and owned the club's sound system.

The remaining four are now negotiating to try to re-open the club but say it will be closed for the next two weeks. It is the latest setback to hit the company - last month the sound system crashed on the stroke of midnight leaving clubbers in silence.

The group offered customers free admission the next week to get the club up and running again.

Mr Graham said: "The club will be closed for the next couple of weeks. We have got a couple of different options we are pursuing at the moment, and we have got to fully assess everything and negotiate with everyone involved. In a couple of weeks we will know for definite which way we are going to go."

Miss Dewell was not available for comment.
