A NEW action plan to tackle fire and emergency incidents will boost community safety, according to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
Its 'Integrated Risk Management Plan' aims to lay out a blueprint to increase fire prevention activity across Lancaster and Morecambe in a bid to cut incidents.
They hope to carry out home fire safety checks, fit smoke alarms free in homes, provide fire safety education, counsel children who play with fire and work with youth offending teams to educate and rehabilitate convicted arsonists.
"Public safety is, and will remain, our primary focus," says Cllr Bob Wilkinson, chairman of the Lancashire combined fire authority.
"Everyone in Lancashire can be assured that changes, where they are advocated, will lead to improvements."
o Lancashire Fire and Rescue will be inviting residents, local businesses, the police and councillors to comment on the blueprint in a consultation exercise running until December.
