SALES of Darwen Civic Society's annual Christmas card featuring the Jubilee Tower are booming, according to organisers.
Chairman of the society Sally Haworth said: "We haven't featured the tower for several years but everyone we spoke to told us they wanted a Christmas card with the tower on it. I'm glad we did. Sales are going really well."
Artist Ron Duxbury, a Darrener now living in Langho, was only too happy to produce a painting of the tower standing out above the snow-swept moors.
Ron said he had painted hundreds of scenes over the years but when he lived in Warwick Avenue, Darwen, he painted the nearby Sunnyhurst Wood more times than he could remember.
He said: "It's my favourite spot in the whole world."
The Christmas cards are on sale at Darwen Town Hall, the market and several shops in the town.
The Civic Society is already preparing for next year's photographic competition which will feature the town's beauty spots as a contrast to this year's focus on the local 'grot spots'.
