LAST Sunday's club run was to the pleasant countryside around Pendle Hill and the river Ribble.
At Sabden, which lies at the foot of Pendle Hill, the group was in time to see the presentation of prizes for the North Lancashire Road Club's hill climb.
Jim Henderson, who won the previous week's event up the Rake in Ramsbottom, was again the winner. It is apparent that he is on top form for his attempt at a sixth win in the National Hill Climb championship on Sunday.
Onward then to the classic country village of Chipping on the north of the Ribble, riding with Blackburn CTC for a time. After refreshment, they made their way to Ribchester then across the Ribble to Wilpshire for the ride over the Roundhills.
Unfortunately, the weather turned nasty over the moorland route and in the atmospheric conditions, the riders got drenched.
At Helmshore, pleasant riding conditions emerged enabling some drying out for the remaining few miles home.
On Sunday, the club will be riding into the West Riding of Yorkshire to see the National Hill Climb championship.
TANDEM RIDING CLUB FOR THE
VISUALLY HANDICAPPED
FOUR tandem pairs and two solo riders met at Tottington HQ last Sunday for the ride to Hollingworth Lake, which was reached by the Bacup route. After a few week's absence, we welcomed back Roy Fisher as steersman for John Robinson.
We also had the pleasure of Roy's wife Sandra's company, who joined us at the midday refreshment venue.
This week's ride is to Croston, meet Tottington HQ 9.15am.
