POLICE were today becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of a man who has been missing from his home in Leigh for more than two weeks.
Large amounts of money have been withdrawn six times from 46-year-old Philip Wood's bank account since he was last seen by his mother at their home in Brookfield Street on Monday October 6. He has made no contact with any of his worried family since then.
The money was withdrawn from Mr Wood's account from the same cash point in Church Street, Blackpool. Officers are now keen to speak to him to make sure he is safe and his card has not been stolen.
Mr Wood is described as white, slim, 5ft 6ins tall with thinning blond hair. He speaks with a northern accent and was last seen wearing jeans and a blue coat. Police also appealed today for landlords in Blackpool to watch out for him. Anyone with any information should contact Wigan Police on 0161 856 7222.
