THE lack of rain over north west reservoirs is making this year one of the driest on record.
United Utilities say rainfall is 30 per cent less than the average, much lower than the last prolonged dry spell in 1995.
Customer services director Gary Dixon says the region's reservoirs were about 53 per cent full, compared with around 70 per cent during last year's damp October.
United Utilities has introduced measures to keep the water flowing and customers are being urged to use water wisely.
