A DATE has been set for the appeal hearing on the Thievely coal and clay extraction application. The company has appealed against LCC's refusal of permission and the hearing will take place on 25 November. Further details of times can be obtained from the clerk to the parish council.
CLIVIGER Parish Council is hopeful that news of the availability of cash from the Burnley Borough Council Capital Opportunities Fund will be received in the near future. Any made available will be used on projects within the parish to improve the environment for everyone.
LANCASHIRE County Council are to provide signs in Salterford Lane to warn drivers of the speed limit, and also of pedestrians using the road.
TWO parish councillors will attend a meeting on Monday 1 December, to discuss Lancashire Policing objectives and funding for 2004/2005. Significant concerns about policing in rural areas and traffic speeds through the parish have been raised by residents in recent months.
A RECENT jumble sale held at the Village Hall raised £80 towards the running of the hall.
CHANGES are afoot at the village primary school. The name has been changed from Cliviger Holme CE Primary School to St John's CE Primary School, Cliviger. It is hoped that the change will strengthen the link between the school and St John's Church.
AMONG matters being dealt with by the parish council are a request for dog litter bins in Red Lees Road, grass cutting required in the play area behind Mount Zion, a skip at the junction of Red Lees Road and Greencliffe Lane.
