A BEER festival in the Rossendale Valley is luring some of the biggest beer anoraks in the country who have tasted more than 11,000 different ales!

Landlord Andrew Grant of the Hare and Hounds in Holcombe Brook near Ramsbottom, is hosting the week-long festival.

He has 103 beers on offer during the celebration.

And this week Andrew has met some of the biggest beer buffs in the land who travel the length and breadth of the country to taste new beers which they term "winners".

Andrew said: "It's incredible. I met one who had tasted over 11,000 ales.

"When they find one they haven't tasted before they call it a 'winner'.

"I have even had them come in, see that they have tasted every one of the beers, and leave without having a drink."

Andrew, who hosts two beer festivals a year, said he has five beers on this week which cannot be bought anywhere else, and he hopes are "winners".

The festival runs until Sunday, November 2.
