RESIDENTS in Hoddlesden are being consulted on plans to create a zebra crossing across the main road from the Ranken Arms pub to the Conservative Club.
It is hoped the measure would make it safer for children and their parents crossing the busy road to reach St Paul's Primary School, in Bayne Street.
Ward councillor Fred Slater said: "At the moment some cars come down the hill quite quickly and some coming in the opposite direction going towards Darwen have started to speed up in anticipation of the hill.
"Residents are being given the opportunity to comment on the proposals and object if there is something they don't like.
"The crossing would come from Carus Avenue, across the Ranken car park and across the road to the Conservative Club, which would mean people can take their children across it down to the school.
"At the moment they are having to get across a busy road."
