THE owner of a Bacup craft shop is encouraging the community to get involved in a Christmas card-making competition to raise funds for Rossendale Hospice.
House on the Corner, in Market Street, is leading the contest, which is free to all participants. All cards will be sold in the hospice shop throughout December.
Lorna Winstanley, owner of the House on the Corner, said: "The competition gives local people the chance to practice their card making skills while being in with a chance to win a fantastic craft prize and help to support a local charity at the same time."
Entries are to be separated into junior, teenager and adult categories and must be accompanied with an envelope and enclosed in a polythene bag for resale.
To give people inspiration for the competition, as well as the opportunity to make unusual cards for friends and family, the House on the Corner is running a series of crafting workshops.
The workshops are being held during November and December, including Family Christmas Card-making on Friday, November 7 and November 21.
The closing date for entries to be received at the House on the Corner is Friday, November 21.
