A WOMAN was rescued from a river in Burnley after a 15ft fall in the early hours of today.
Police, ambulance and the fire brigade were called at 1.55am today and found the woman by the river, at the junction of Cow Lane and St James's Street.
Two firefighters used a triple extension ladder to rescue her. She was examined by paramedics and appeared uninjured but was taken to Burnley General Hospital.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "It would appear this woman has fallen 15ft and she had a lucky escape from serious injury."
