A YOUNG shoplifter introduced to drugs by her boyfriend was jailed for two months by Burnley magistrates.
The court had been told how Charlene Heseltine, 20, offended while subject to a conditional discharge, a community rehabilitation order and on bail.
The defendant, of Waddington Avenue, Burnley, admitted two counts of theft and one bail act offence.
The court was told Heseltine stole perfume worth more than £100 from T K Max and also struck at Woolworths with an accomplice, taking a doll and a kitchen set. She told police she had still been hung over from the night before and did not know why she picked up the pan set.
Richard Taylor, defending, said Heseltine had had a significant heroin problem. She had been introduced to drugs by her boyfriend, who was now in prison.
She had been left in a lot of debt and people regularly came to the house trying to get money owed by her former partner.
Heseltine committed the offences when she was not getting any benefits and had been living from hand to mouth. Her mother had agreed to take her in and would support her as long as she stayed off drugs and away from the boyfriend.
