THE Mayor of Padiham, Councillor Bob Clark, accompanied by Councillor John Kenyon, inspected their wards in Padiham to see for themselves the amount of litter, household rubbish and dog fouling in the areas.
This was in response to pleas from the residents to have their environment cleaned. A report has been passed to the council.
HAPTON'S Joanne and Jimmy Whitaker have been hosts to five visitors from Burnley's twin town Vitry. They welcome people from France regularly and are encouraged to visit Vitry in return.
While in Hapton, the visitors were intrigued by two of its views and took photographs of them to show back in Vitry. The first one is the red telephone box outside the Methodist Church. The second is the milk cart of Alan Walsh.
MEMBERS of the Padiham Town Council were pleased to hear that more shops in the town centre are to be occupied. Several different kinds of business proposals have come forward and the councillors welcomed the change from fast food shops..
A BRISK autumn morning encouraged many people to walk to Gawthorpe Hall on Sunday to take part in the book sale for National Trust funds.
BURNLEY Council is to carry out safety inspections in St Leonard's cemetery within the next few months to ensure that headstones are safe. Any unsafe headstone will be marked and the council will make every effort to contact the families of the deceased, who will be expected to have the unsafe headstones repaired.
Where the owners of the memorials are deceased, the council will make the stones safe immediately.
IT IS proposed to build six three-storey houses in Guy Street, Padiham, which is in a conservation area.
The plans are on show at the planning office on Parker Lane in Burnley and anyone who wishes to comment on the development may do so within 21 days.
Other proposed building work in Padiham includes plans to build eleven garages in Lytton Street and a single storey extension to the rear of 33 Grove Lane, Padiham.
HAULAGE firm Fagan and Whalley have sponsored a football kit for the team from Hapton's CE/Methodist School. The team's last victory was over Padiham County School.
