A TEAM of community spirited royal volunteers dedicated two weeks to brightening people's lives.
Groundwork Prince's Trust's seventh Atherton team have selected two projects from requests submitted by groups -- and talked local firms into providing the necessary materials free of charge.
The 15 youngsters plumped to complete facelift work at Hindsford Family Centre and at the Stonehouse Resource Centre in Leigh as part of their personal development programme.
The family centre in Tyldesley Road, Hindsford asked the team of 16 to 25 year olds to paint and brighten up the stairs, hallway and kitchen and an outside wall.
They have removed an old shed at the Etherstone Street centre in Leigh to make way for a garden wall so children can plant flowers.
Team youth development officer Maggie McIntyre, said: "We rely on the goodwill of local firms to donate the materials and we have been amazed at the enormous amount of help we have received.
"We would like to thank B and Q, Wallpaper Supplies, Travis Perkins, Best Building Supplies, Dulux and Astley Hire for all their help."
"Over the fortnight the team's organisational skills and hidden talents have been put to the test and everybody has worked hard with both projects well on the way to being completed.
"I am always amazed at the resourcefulness of the volunteers on the Prince's Trust teams and their desire to succeed in all that they do."
The free 12 week course is open to all 16-25 year olds regardless of academic ability or background and they can participate by contacting Groundwork Wigan and Chorley, or if on New Deal by asking to be signed up by an advisor or if in work by asking an employer for details.
