THERE was a little bit of character shown against my old club Liverpool last night - but there's a lot more to come!

We were looking for a good performance at home, to score a few goals and look a bit better in our shape and I thought we did - it was just the result that was missing once again.

We scored a goal, we were unfortunate to go a man down and then it was backs against the wall again. But that's been the story of our season so far, hasn't it?

I thought we looked a more attacking force. It's the first time I've played on the right this season and I've really enjoyed it. I've played on the left since the start of the season because I thought I could do it but it's not gone as well as I thought it would.

I should have more goals and more assists and last season I got that when I was playing on the right rather than the left.

Also, the cross I put in for the first goal that Dwight headed in wouldn't have happened from the other side. I've been very restricted and you can easily be put out of the game. As a team, the lads were terrific and kept on battling and got back in it to give Liverpool a bit of a fright.

But it's so difficult when you go a man down and I just hope it hasn't taken too much out of us because we've got a big game on Sunday at Leicester and that's the main thing.

We have to get back to winning ways in the league but you don't become a bad team overnight. Although there's been a lot of negatives going on lately we can take a few positives from last night's performance because it was very difficult but the lads were brilliant.

We need to start putting wins on the board, and the sooner the better because once you pick up wins you start to coast - but at the moment things are going against us.

One more thing, just to let everyone know that I was taken off last night as the gaffer wanted to rest me for the game on Sunday.

My knee has been playing up a little bit recently but I'm okay, I just need to be careful and look after it.
