THE Market Street Fish and Chip Shop in Atherton has joined the fish frying elite by being awarded the prestigious Seafish Friers Quality Award.
Owners Alan and Diane Kendall this week received their award from Seafish Quality and Trade Executive Jim Hyam.
The Market Street Chippy is one of only 500 in the UK to have achieved the friers' award established in 1996 to raise fish and chips standards.
Diane said: "Although I've worked in fish and chip shops before, this is the first business Alan and I have ran together. We are really delighted."
