VILLAGE bookworms are helping to educate the less fortunate women of the world.
Culcheth WI organised a collection and book stall which raised £100 for the Associated Countrywomen of the World, a charity working for the education of girls and women and backing Oxfam's Education Now campaign.
The group will again be organising a stall at the village's Victorian Extravaganza on November 29 and the Christmas party date has been changed to December 16 following difficulties with catering.
Members heard Kathleen Lewis give a fascinating account of her 18 years spent as a soprano singing on cruise ships.
The next meeting on November 18 is the AGM and members are invited to take along items for a light-hearted auction.
