CAT lovers are working hard to reduce the stray and feral population.
Volunteers from the Wigan and Atherton Cats Protection League this week neutered their 200th cat since taking a mobile surgery on the road.
The organisation loaned the theatre on wheels in summer and hopefully for three years will be touring the area offering a free neutering and microchipping service to cat owners on benefits.
Manned by a vet and veterinary nurse and two volunteers providing aftercare, the van has been on the road on Thursdays in Hag Fold and Higher Folds and today begins a spell at Golborne Asda where the 200th cat has been spayed.
A spokesman for the League said: "The service has been fantastic and owners have responded well to help keep the unwanted cat population down."
