REGARDING your report (LET, October 24) on the ban on drinking in the street in Darwen, here in British Columbia it is forbidden in any public place -- streets, parks etc.
If found by police, alcohol can be confiscated or literally poured down the drain.
Some will always try to find ways round this ban but in the main the general populace conform. It's nice to see Darwen catching up with the times.
