BURY Council's Street Care scheme has had an instant impact on one resident.
John Finnegan, of Walton Drive, Bury, found his grievances fell on deaf ears when he complained to the council in July after his 13-year-old daughter Sarah tripped over a sunken flag near their home.
After months of calls asking for the pavement to be repaired, Mr Finnegan took up the gauntlet again when the Street Care scheme was launched this week.
It urged residents to contact them with complaints about street issues and advertised helpline numbers and email addresses.
Mr Finnegan said: "The council agreed that the pavement needed fixing and came out to have a look at it. Now they have repaired what they said they would."
The council has spent £15,000 on the scheme.
