CLITHEROE travel to Alsager Town this weekend, for their League Challenge Cup First Round clash, in high spirits despite the loss of Mark Stewart to Ramsbottom.

The North West Counties Division One leaders have played Alsager twice this season with both matches turning into very close encounters, resulting in draws.

And, while the Blues will go into the game in confident mood, manager Lee Sculpher expects a tense affair at the Town Ground.

"It will be tough, we have made two draws with them already this season, they seem to be the draw specialists," he said.

Alsager currently lie in mid-table having drawn seven in the league, and Sculpher knows this game could also go to the wire.

"It's the cup, it will be a close game with probably the one goal separating the two sides."

The Blues welcome back Barrie Hart after suspension, leaving the squad at virtual full strength with long-term injury victim Gary Jackson sidelined.

"We will go into the match very confident as we normally do, and in a very positive mental state," added Sculpher.
