PEACE and harmony are the hallmarks of St Peter's CE Infants in Leigh.

In an Ofsted Report the children's sheer enjoyment of being at school comes top of the class.

Inspectors observed: "Pupils have good attitudes to school and learning. They enjoy being there and respond well to prepared activities in lessons.

"Good behaviour ensures that learning takes place at a good rate and pupils achieve well as a result.

"Relationships between pupils and between pupils and staff are good; everyone works and lives in harmony."

Ofsted note the Leigh EAZ school receives support in literacy and ICT skills, adding: "This is a good and improving school. Pupils achieve well, teaching is good with teachers' expectations being high.

"Teachers plan their lessons well with a wide range of interesting and challenging activities. Pupils become involved in what they do, work hard and learn effectively."

Delighted head teacher Clare Garner said: "It is good to know our efforts are appreciated -- and we are on a right and bright track."
