A SEVEN-year-old boy who spent a week preparing for East Lancashire's Royal visit has written a stern letter to "Prince Charming" to ask him why he and his school friends were snubbed.
Little Thomas Bentham, a pupil at Barrowford Primary School made banners and flags to welcome Prince Charles to the village last Friday.
As a goodbye gesture pupils from the school lined Gisburn Road to wish His Royal Highness farewell -- only to be ignored and not even receive so much as a wave.
Thomas' mum, Fleur Evans, 30, of Colne, said: "He was really excited about Prince Charles coming to Barrowford because it's not every day you get to see a future King, but when he came home from school he had a real bee in his bonnet about it.
"He wouldn't stop going on about it, saying 'that so called Prince Charming didn't even wave', so I said why don't you write a letter.
"He was really angry that he had wasted so much time making flags and banners to welcome him only to be ignored.
"He wanted to know why he hadn't slowed down and waved. He asked me if I thought he would write back.
"I told him somebody from his office may reply but if he doesn't get the right answers he will be writing back. His letter for a seven-year-old is cracking."
She added: "We understand that he can't stop and slow down every time somebody wants to wave at him but Barrowford is only a small village and there were a whole bunch of school children left disappointed.
"These kids are the future of Britain so they should be looked after."
In Thomas' letter sent to St James Palace yesterday morning he wrote: "Your Royal Highness, I was very excited to hear that you were coming to visit Barrowford and I had made a flag to wave.
"A lot of my school had stood outside to see you and I am very sad that you did not slow down to wave because it is not every day you get to see a future King.
"Please could you tell me why you did not wave?
"Yours sincerely Thomas Bentham, age seven."
A spokesman for Prince Charles said: "We haven't received the letter yet but we do try to reply to all letters.
"We are very sorry if this is the case but Prince Charles does try and acknowledge everybody as he has a great interest in the area. He was sticking to a very tight schedule that day.
"At every event he tries to speak to as many people as possible but we apologise if anybody was missed."
