A COLNE teenager is in a critical condition in hospital following a collision with a car in the town.
Graeme Doherty was injured while crossing White Walls Drive, near the junction with Regent Street, at around 9.10pm on Thursday, October 30.
Sgt Martin Bishop, from the road policing unit, said: "He passed safely in front of a vehicle in lane one into the path of another in lane two, which has hit him. He went up onto the windscreen and was carried a short way by the vehicle."
He was taken by ambulance to Burnley General Hospital suffering from head injuries and was later transferred to the critical care unit at Preston Royal infirmary, where his condition was described as poorly but stable.
The police accident investigation team was called to the scene and the road remained closed for more than two hours.
Sgt Bishop appealed for witnesses to the incident, involving a white Ford Sierra, which was driven by a 24-year-old local man, to contact the road policing unit on 01282 472431.
