A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in a Radcliffe street.
The victim, believed to be in his forties, suffered fatal injuries during the incident which occurred just after 12.45amon Saturday in Holland Street.
Police were called to the scene after a neighbour reported hearing a loud bang. They discovered a man's body.
The victim, who is yet to be formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The terraced road was sealed off as the search was carried out. Police forensic teams are making a pinpoint search of the area.
Neighbours said they heard a loud bang followed by screaming and shouting coming from a house.
One resident said they had seen a man covered in blood lying on the doorstep of one of the homes in the street. Another, who did not want to be named, said: "We thought the noise was another large firework, until we heard a lot of screaming and shouting straight afterwards. "It's very frightening because last night we took our children trick or treating down the street where the shooting happened."
