MONDAY'S welcome rains after many weeks of dry conditions topped up the local rivers.

One water to suffer badly from the past summer's drought has been Jumbles Reservoir at Bradshaw, which at the time of writing is extremely low.

Very few anglers have been fishing the venue.

On the local match scene Pilsworth Fisheries Carp Lake was the venue for the latest Open.

Dave Jowett (snr) (Fisherman's Way), took top weight 22-14-0. In second place was Dave Jowett (jnr) (Fishermans Way) 19-9-0 and third, Roy Gough (Fishermans Way) 12-9-0.

On Sunday the second round of the Angling Times Team Championship Lancashire Division was held on the Lancaster Canal at Garstang. It was fished by 103 anglers.

This proved to be a close battle between Saints and Drennan NW.

Top weight fell to Ian Hughes (Saints) 7-0-10 (roach). In second place was Paul Kieley (Drennan NW) 6-14-8, third Jim Hines (Drennan NW) 6-2-0 and fourth Alan Billington (Drennan NW) 5-13-12.

League positions are: 1 Saints 2pts, 2 Drennan NW 4pts.

In the Hebden Bridge AS Golden Peg Open held on the Rochdale Canal at Stubbing Wharf and Red Acre, Geoff Prescott, fishing peg 151 at Red Acre included four quality bream, backed up with roach and perch 8-13-0.

In second place was Derek Bibby (Tri Cast Southport) 4-6-0, third was Derek Walker (Little Lever) 4-1-0 and fourth Colin Maver (Little Lever) 3-13-0.

Further afield in Yorkshire at the Woodland Lakes Wednesday Open, Steve Fearnley (Elton Tackle) had top weight with 84-3-0.

He was well clear of second placed Gareth Smith of Northallerton 60-6-0 and third Dave Pimlott (Drennan Elton) with 56-5-0.

ENTRIES are now requested from clubs who interested in fishing the Supercup 2004.

Those wishing to enter have to submit 20 names and an entry fee of £30.

Last year the Bury Society did very well in the first two rounds to qualify for the Regional Final.
