BURY'S councillors have formally turned down an invitation to give themselves pensions at taxpayers' expense.
The proposal had been put forward by an independent remuneration panel to help attact more candidates for election.
But the council's standards committee disagreed and members at Wednesday's (Nov 5) council meeting unanimously voted against the idea.
