A GUNMAN was under siege nearly 24 hours after a man was shot and killed near a children's playground.
Police negotiators spent all night talking to Newcastle-born Alan Neale, who was said to be armed with a shotgun and ammunition.
The siege started the previous day when Paul Blackledge, 31, was blasted with a shotgun near the children's playground.
