AFTER a recent cup win and a half term break, Atherton LR U9s were back in league action with a 1-1 draw against North Walkden 'B'.

Against the run of play LR went a goal down after 10 minutes but they kept pressing forward with both Louis Morris and Ryan

Holland missing good chances to equalise.

Excellent defending from Zac Nicholls kept LR in the game in the second half until with five minutes left Wilkinson and man of the match Holland created an equaliser for Morris.

A depleted U12s came from a goal behind to beat Newbury Knights 4-2.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, LR got their game together in the second half and Callam Walshe quickly made it 1-1. A minute later good football by Gareth Adams and David Jackson found the feet of defender Lee Birchall who placed the ball into the top right corner. Jackson made it 3-1 with a penalty and Liam Ardrey knocked in a fourth. Newbury managed a late consolation goal. Man of the match was David Jackson.

The U15s defeated Tempest 4-2 with goals from Kyle Giles, John Unsworth and Richard Hinez. John Unsworth was man of the match.

The U16s, in their first season, came close to victory before being pipped 5-4 by Bolton Lads. The Atherton goals came from Nick Youle (2), Dean Gregory and David Lynam.
