Leigh Miners Rangers 46 Featherstone Lions 12
LEIGH Miners Rangers strung together back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
With both sides forced to change their line-ups, the game frequently went off the boil. But the Miners were in control and finally cruised to victory against a Lions side that only had 14 fit players.
The result was never in doubt after the first half hour by which time the Miners had built up a 16-0 lead.
The scoring began on five minutes when Alan Reddicliffe danced through to put Shaun Daley in at the corner. Dave Radley missed the conversion but added a penalty soon afterwards before Darren Pilkington backed up a Tommy Goulden break to go under the posts.
When Sean Phoenix broke the defence for Neil Donlan to support and score, the victory was virtually assured.
The Lions showed their teeth with a fine try from Dave Raybould and Chris Morgan goaled.
Early in the second half Radley strode through for a try and minutes later Liam McCarthy backed up another Phoenix break to go under the posts.
The Lions' top player, Jason Wood, bulldozed over for a six-pointer before the Miners increased their lead when the powerful Dave Patterson shook off four defenders to crash in.
In the dying stages Radley went in off Phoenix's flicked pass before Reddicliffe complete the rout.
