TYLDESLEY RU's unbeaten home form continued with an assured if unspectacular 27-15 win over Trafford at St George's Park.

Going behind to an early converted try was hardly the best start but Tyldesley regrouped and full back Andy Dickinson broke through to score a try which was converted by Ashley Worsfold.

Tyldesley struggled to find top gear and Trafford re-took the lead with an unconverted try to go in at the break 12-7 up.

The second half belonged to Tyldesley who showed more grit and determination than in the first and the inclusion of James O'Connor at prop seemed to galvanise the side as first Worsfold landed a simple penalty goal and then winger Gareth Jones plunged over for a try which was converted by Worsfold from some distance.

Tyldesley continued to press and another Worsfold penalty took their lead to 20-12. With time running out large gaps began to appear in the Trafford line and O'Connor found one of them to score a try leaving a simple conversion for Worsfold. Trafford ended the scoring with a penalty.

Tyldesley Knights made sure their top of the table place in NW Division Two did not slip with a comprehensive 44-15 home win over third placed Ormskirk.

Tries came thick and fast from Ian Lysons, Sean Campbell, Adam Stevens and David Channell. Try of the match was a 70 metre effort from Tyldesley's young Zimbabwean Brian Ndlovu who pinned his ears back and outpaced the entire Ormskirk defensive line. Fly-half Fraser Mackintosh supplied the rest of the points from the boot with an accurate kicking display.

Tyldesley Dragons continued their rise towards the promotion places in NW Division Five North with a 21-6 win over a feisty and spoiling Thornton Cleveleys side. Both sides had traded two penalties apiece in a easy forgettable first half, replacement fly half Graham Harrop lit up the second period setting up a excellently finished try by Joe Dillon and scoring one himself.
