FUSILIERS who fought in Iraq will lead Bury's annual tribute to soldiers who gave their lives in wars over the last century.

Members of the 1st Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, will wear their desert combats for the Remembrance Day parade through the town centre on Sunday (Nov 9).

The parade will leave Bury Town Hall at 10.30am and proceed along Knowsley Street, Haymarket Street and Market Street, It will arrived at the War Memorial in Market Place for the two minutes silence at 11am, where wreaths will be laid before the service in Bury Parish Church. It will be followed, at 12.15pm, by a March Past.

Remembrance services and parades will also take place across the borough.

TOTTINGTON: Members of the disbanded Tottington Ex-Servicemen's Association will lead the procession through the village. It will be the first time in decades that the veterans' group has not organised the service and parade. St Anne's Church has accepted the responsibility for arranging the annual tribute. The procession will leave Harwood Crescent at 2.30pm and march to the war memorial in Market Street where local church leaders will conduct a short service.

RAMSBOTTOM: A procession leaves the British Legion in Central Street at 10.30am to march to St Paul's CE Church via Bolton Street and Bridge Street. A two minutes silence and wreath laying ceremony will be followed by a service in the church.

RADCLIFFE: The parade will assemble outside Radcliffe British Legion from 10am onwards and will set off along Water Street just before 11am. Following the wreath laying at the cenotaph the parade will make its way to St Thomas and St John's Church where a service will be held from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

PRESTWICH: Around 10.30am, the parade will leave the Royal British Legion in Bury Old Road and make its way to the war memorial at Pados House, St Mary's Road, via Whittaker Lane and Rectory Lane. A wreath laying ceremony will be followed by two minutes silence. The massed civic and military parade will then march back to the Royal British Legion headquarters.

WHITEFIELD: Following a service at All Saints Church in Church Lane, Whitefield, at 10.45am, the procession will make its way to the cenotaph for a wreath laying ceremony and a short service at 11am.

UNSWORTH: A short service and minute's silence will be held at Unsworth Pole. The parade will leave St George's Church in Parr Lane at 10.30am and make its way to the cenotaph.

WALSHAW: A procession will march from Christ Church, Walshaw, at 10.45am to the war memorial. This will be preceded by a short service at Christ Church starting at 10.30am.
