Cryer left the North West Counties Division One leaders for Rossendale United last week and manager Lee Sculpher is still hoping to secure a loan deal in time for tomorrow's top-of-the-table clash at home to Mossley.

With both clubs having applied to join the re-structured UniBond Division One next season, the title race might not have the same intensity this year.

But Sculpher is still looking to complete the double over his nearest rivals and give Clitheroe an early edge in the chase for the championship.

"We played them a few weeks ago and won 2-1 at their place so if we pick up a point tomorrow we would have taken four points out of six off them," said Sculpher.

"That would be a massive confidence boost in the run up to Christmas as we've got important cup and league games.

'We want to cement the good work we've done so far."

CLITHEROE is set to become a hotbed of international football in the next few months.

Scotland Women will be using their Shawbridge ground for training, while former England coach Kevin Keegan has been booked for an appearance in the new year.

The Sots are due to play their English counterparts at Deepdale, Preston North End, on Thursday, November 13 and as part of their preparations will train at Clitheroe.

The session is on Tuesday, November 11, 4.30-6pm. Both the Scottish side and Clitheroe FC are welcoming spectators, free of charge.

Another boost for the club came when Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan agreed to return for another 'Audience With' night on Thursday, February 4.

Keegan held a similar question and answer event earlier this year, which drew a full house into the clubhouse.

Admission is strictly by ticket only and costs £20. They can be obtained from David Burgess by calling 01200 445738.
