I HAVE been in Fairfield Hospital on four recent occasions and am now recovering from a serious condition. Having read many comments about the state of the NHS, I was a little concerned about the treatment I would receive. However, I have to say that this was nothing less than first-class.
I spent time in wards 7, 8, 9 and 12, totalling nine weeks and feel qualified to comment. I am particularly grateful to Mr Doyle and his team, but others deserve thanks. The service from doctors, nurses, physios, X-ray personnel, and ambulance staff was superb.
However, the hospital seemed to run on the goodwill and dedication of the staff. In my opinion the place is underfunded and the wards understaffed, putting health and safety at risk. Politicians and budget managers please note, before it gets more serious.
