COUNCILLOR Sir Bill Taylor and your comment column (LET November 3), give a timely reminder of why we should remember all those who gave their lives for us in conflicts so that we can live in freedom.

In 1997 I was on holiday in Hong Kong and visited the World War 2 cemetery. Buried there are servicemen and women from all over the world -- many thousands of miles from their homes.

Men and women not just from Britain and India, but also from Hong Kong, China, Burma, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Malaya, SIngapore etc.

The cemetery was beautifully tended and the experience was, of course, very moving. Let us unite to remember those from all nations who were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the world from tyranny.
