Britain's Imran Ali Khan heads to Bollywood after the three-day Zee Mela 2003.

The budding young actor gave his all for one last time and now heads to Mumbai to complete post-production on his debut film 'I' where he stars opposite Salman Khan's heartthrob brother Sohail Khan, which was shot in London in Summer 2003.

"It's quite an overwhelming feeling," said 22 year old Imran at the Mela.

"It's always great to see familiar faces in the audience who support and follow the group's work and now I hope they'll give me the same affection as I embark on a new challenge and in a new direction."

Imran made an appearance in Karan Johar's Bollywood blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, spotted by the director after shooting had begun and offered a role that would begin the film.

A few Bollywood offers later and with a debut film under his belt being readied for release early next year, Imran is the first actor from the UK to successfully crossover.

"I'm your average guy from London who had a dream and just would not stop until I knew I gave it my best shot. Fortunately for me this brought many offers and the dream came true when I was offered a few films. It's been a lot of hard work and a long journey, but when I was offered the role I have in 'I' it all seemed worth it."

Bridging the gap between Bollywood and the UK, Imran's debut film is being January 26 2004 and is set in East London and tells the story of an Indian arriving in the UK only to experience racism.
