A DAZZLING fashion show raised more than £1,000 to benefit women who have survived war in some of the world's most turbulent places.

East Lancashire Soroptimists will use the cash boost for their new quadrennial appeal called Project Independence, Woman Survivors of War.

The fashion show was presented by Nicky's of Penwortham and was held at the Golf and Country Club in Garstang.

Models took to the catwalk wearing locally-made designs, which will help to boost fashion firms across the area as well as supporting a good cause.

The appeal will be supported by Soroptimists internationally and hopes to emulate the success of the previous four-year appeal Limbs for Life.

It has three main strains focusing on sponsorship for direct aid and emotional support, improving skills and training as well as providing loans for women to start up income-generating projects.
